refit
Disclaimer: I decided to create a website for two reasons. The first was to let friends and family know what we were up to and record our adventure for posterity. It will probably be fun to go back and look at this 20 years from now. I have regretted not recording past experiences and we figured this gives us good reason to keep it up. The second reason was to put more information on the net. When I begin the process of starting a new refit project, I comb the internet looking for all the information I can find. Since I tackle most of the work myself, I look for not only how to do certain things, but why. What is the best way to do X. Which Y is the best thing to buy. So instead of simply just listing WHAT we did, I like to try and tell WHY I did something. Every one of us looks at things a little bit differently, and I want to give the reader some insight into my thought process. Mostly because that is what I was looking for when I read other cruiser's websites.
I don't care to try and convince anyone that my way is the only way, or even the best way. Some may disagree whole-heartedly to my approaches, but at least after reading this you will know why I did what I did and know that every decision was carefully weighed and considered (sometimes for months or years). In fact, some of my “final” choices changed a couple of times until the thing was complete. In the future, after a few months/years cruising I will try to evaluate those decisions and see if they really were the “right” choices. Until then, all I can do is keep on keeping on.
