Picture"My Boy Blue" Isn't it cute?
by Marya

When we bought Indigo, a very old West Marine inflatable, the kind with thin fiberglass floor slats, came with the purchase. It still works but leaks just enough to be annoying and due to the old slats breaking every time you stood on them, very unstable when sitting or standing. "Snap, crackle, pop" is not something you want to hear
every time you get in or out of your car. When hauling 4 people with 8 feet, it sounds like a popcorn popper - very unsettling to say the least. I feel like a jagged slat is ready to jut through the floor at any moment sending our engine to a watery grave. I can swim. Our engine can't. (Darn thing is sooo high maintenance.)
.
So for this and other reasons, the dinghy has long been a source of consternation. We have researched and measured and pondered long and hard about new dinghies. More on how we finally came to decide what to buy here...

It came down to the Achilles LSI-260. We finally bit the bullet a couple weeks ago and tried it out over Thanksgiving weekend. It fits perfectly between the staysail on deck and the mast pulpits when inflated, the inflatable air floor is awesome, and it rows well. Haven't yet tried the outboard.

But the major point here is that we need to name it. Well we don't "need" to, it's not like it's a requirement. Some people do, some don't. I want to name it "My Boy Blue" but Brian is not amused, even though he likes that movie.  I have read not to name your dinghy anything similar to your boat, such as "Indigo 2", so as to not be able to draw a connection. If your dinghy is on shore you don't want it to be easy to spot the ship it came from and know no one was on board. So with that in mind, I thought My Boy Blue was cute but not too obvious. :) Anyone else have any suggestions?

My other thought was "Dancing Queen" but Brian would start hyperventilating if I were to suggest an ABBA song title... the mere mention of it could make his head explode.

I also though of "Heel".... get it.... Achilles "Heel"
. Ok, not cute.
